Energy

As Limak Cement, increasing energy efficiency and contributing to the conservation of natural resources are among our strategic priorities. Our domestic production facilities are certified within the scope of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System. While optimizing our energy consumption through renewable energy sources, we develop practices that reduce waste generation and minimize our environmental impacts.

We operate with integrated management systems across all our plants and take active steps to reduce our carbon footprint through energy efficiency projects. By utilizing the waste heat generated during the clinker production process through recuperator systems, we meet the heating needs of offices, lodgings and social areas connected to our production facilities.

In order to raise employees’ awareness of energy management and the reduction of energy consumption, trainings are provided through Limak Cement Global Academy (LCGA) within the scope of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System. These trainings support the monitoring and improvement of energy performance, the integration of energy efficiency practices into operational processes, and the adoption of energy-saving behaviors by employees in their daily activities.

The current Cement Plants Specific Energy Consumption data shared by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has once again certified Limak Cement’s commitment to energy management and technical capability. In this comprehensive analysis, which compares the energy intensities of all cement plants across Türkiye, the performance demonstrated by our plants is a source of pride: Shared Leadership Performance: The fact that 4 of our plants rank among the top 5 most energy-efficient facilities (Kilis, Anka, Şanlıurfa, Trakya) proves that our low-carbon production strategy is the result of disciplined engineering. Far Beyond the Türkiye Average: As clearly shown in the graph, the vast majority of our plants demonstrate energy consumption well below the Türkiye average of 95.3 kWh/ton, meaning they operate more efficiently. This shows that we successfully manage both our costs and environmental footprint by minimizing the energy consumed per unit of production. Continuous Improvement Focus: Modernization and efficiency-enhancing investments for the only facility in our portfolio that remains above the Türkiye average continue without slowing down. In our future projection, bringing all locations to the level of “best practices” is our main priority. We act with the principle of “creating more value with less energy.”

With the solar panels commissioned in the last quarter of 2025, our efforts to reduce Scope 2 emissions became operational. In 2025, we supplied 2% of our factories’ electricity consumption from renewable energy sources. By 2030, we aim to meet 53% of our total electricity demand from solar energy. By 2050, we plan to increase this ratio to over 90%.

In line with this target, our 44 MW solar power plant investment, for which the official process was initiated in 2025, is expected to be commissioned in 2026. In addition, our 36 MW solar power plant investment was commissioned in 2025. This investment represents an important milestone in our sustainable energy transition. Our solar power plant investments will not only contribute to reducing carbon emissions, but also optimize energy costs and strengthen our long-term competitiveness.
