Emission Management

We build our emissions management on the principles of "measurability" and "transparency." We monitor our facilities digitally with a level of rigor that goes beyond legal requirements:

  • MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) System: Since 2015, we have been meticulously tracking our greenhouse gas emissions under an internationally recognized MRV system. This systematic data flow provides a reliable baseline for our projects aimed at reducing emissions intensity.
  • 24/7 Monitoring through Continuous Emission Measurement Systems: Thanks to the advanced-technology measurement devices installed in our plant stacks, we continuously monitor dust, NOx (nitrogen oxides), and SO₂ (sulfur dioxide) levels. These data are shared in real time with the relevant public authorities and consistently remain below legal limits.
  • We do not limit the environmental impact of our operations to stack emissions alone; we also safeguard ecosystem health by regularly monitoring air quality both within and around our facilities.

At Limak Çimento, we first launched our Greenhouse Gas Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) process in 2015. As of the final quarter of 2021, we completed the reporting and verification processes for our greenhouse gas emissions across the Group, calculating our Corporate Carbon Footprint within the framework of the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. We became the first cement company to have its carbon footprint calculations verified by a body accredited by TÜRKAK under the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard for all of its plants. Under the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), we also began reporting our product-level greenhouse gas emissions as of the final quarter of 2023. At Limak Çimento, we plan to reduce emissions intensity per ton of cement produced by 36% by 2030 and by 82% by 2040, and to reach our Net Zero emissions target in 2050.
