Alternative Fuels

Alternative fuel and waste use, one of our priority focus areas within our decarbonization roadmap, is one of the fundamental elements of our strategy to lower greenhouse gas emissions by reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. Accordingly, we are shifting our energy source preferences in favor of alternative fuels and integrating into our production processes a circular economy approach that treats waste as a resource. Our alternative fuel portfolio encompasses refuse-derived fuels (RDF), end-of-life tires (ELT), bilge waste, biomass, and sludge waste, as well as industrial wastes alongside biomass and municipal waste-based sources.

In the long term, we aim to raise our alternative fuel utilization rate to an average of 50% as thermal substitution by 2030, and by 2050 to meet more than 95% of our total fuel consumption from alternative sources as thermal substitution. The safe, environmentally responsible, and high-efficiency utilization of waste is an integral part of both our environmental responsibility and our operational efficiency. For this reason, alternative fuel and waste use continues to be a strategic priority in Limak Çimento's sustainability journey.
